Astrology Newsletter July 10-23, 2023
Welcome to another bi-weekly astrology newsletter! Discover what the upcoming New Moon in Cancer and the Nodal transition into Aries & Libra mean for your Rising Sign.
Your bi-weekly newsletter is finally here! The following two weeks will be very eventful.
Let's look at the five astrological events taking place in the next two weeks:
→ Mercury enters Leo & Mars enters Virgo on July 11th
→ New Moon in Cancer 24º on July 17th
→ The North Node moves into Aries and the South Node into Libra on July 17th
→ Venus stations retrograde in Leo 28°on July 22nd
→ Chiron stations retrograde in Aries 19°on July 23rd
On July 11th, Mercury will enter the playful fire sign Leo and Mars will move into the perfectionist earth sign Virgo. Mercury will bring more charismatic and heart-warming energy where we most need it, and a spark that's been missing, while Mars in Virgo will inspire us to master an essential skill that will make us stand out from the crowd.
The New Moon in Cancer takes place on July 17th at 24º. During this time, Mercury in Leo will square Jupiter in Taurus 11º. In the final decan of Cancer, this New Moon inspires us to take care of something already nearing its maturity. However, there is some tension in the air at this time, creating a possible fear and worry, represented by the applying opposition to Pluto in Capricorn. Since Pluto is retrograde, this could be connected to something from the past. Fortunately, a square between Mercury and optimistic Jupiter gives us hope and faith to overcome Pluto's intensive essence.
Also, on the day of this New Moon (July 17th, 2023), the Lunar Nodes switch signs. The North Node leaves Taurus and moves into Aries, and the South Node leaves Scorpio and moves into Libra. This is one of the most important transits of the year. When the Lunar Nodes change signs, something fundamental about our priorities and focus will shift. The Lunar Nodes show us the overall direction in life (the North Node points towards the future, and the South Node towards the past). When the Lunar Nodes change signs, they draw our attention to a different area of our life, asking us to integrate the lessons of the opposing signs – in this case, Aries and Libra. Aries and Libra are the signs of "Me" vs "The other".
The second part of Cancer season can slow things down. The opposition between Mars in Virgo 6° and Saturn in Pisces 6° (July 4th-August 4th) will restrict our time and energy, dedicating our full attention to something significant. The goal here is to be extra focused and push forward towards a specific goal. It might seem that the progress is not as fast as usual, but a consistent and steady effort can bring your ideas to fruition.
Mars is the planet that stimulates motivation, drive and courage, while Saturn, especially in opposition or in a square, can create a frustrating feeling. Generally, when two planets are in opposition, these are times that stimulate us to implement changes in the areas of life activated by the transiting planets.
With Mars opposing Saturn, frustration and disappointment can emerge due to people or situations standing in our way, making it difficult for us to fulfil our dreams and desires, resulting in uneasy feelings.
The energy of Saturn might temporarily make us feel restricted, unable to express anger or assertiveness in any situation. The best way to deal with this transit is to remain patient and, if stressed, try to release the negative energy by doing something that makes you feel relaxed and calm.
On July 21st, the Sun perfects its opposition with Pluto in Capricorn 29°. The soft heart of the Sun in Cancer at 29° will feel raw and vulnerable, overexposed to a dangerous or caustic element. It's important to remember that Pluto is alchemical, transmuting repression into self-knowledge. You may finally purge the poison of dark secrets so you can heal.
On July 22nd, the last day of the Cancer season, Venus stations retrograde at 28° Leo until September 3rd. This begins a 40-day soul-searching process to re-discover our deepest desires for love and beauty. Venus will transform from an evening star into a morning star, and this coincides with new beginnings related to something fresh and new being born within us, allowing us to re-assess our relationships, finances and realise what truly matters and what sparks our desires and hopes.
Chiron stations retrograde in Aries 19° on July 23rd. Chiron was discovered in 1977, orbiting between Saturn, the ruler of Capricorn and Uranus, the ruler of Aquarius. Many consider it an asteroid or a small planet.
In Greek mythology, Chiron was a centaur – an ideal combination of human intelligence and animal instinct. He was the child of the Gods, a half-human and a half-horse immortal creature. Regardless of its look, Chiron was a great teacher, holistic healer, astrologer and musician. Many of his students were the greatest warriors, healers and future leaders of the times.
Chiron is often regarded as" the wounded healer" due to a wound he received from a poison arrow. The arrow didn't kill him; however, he never quite recovered from it and, as a result, was destined to live in pain.
This myth about Chiron's suffering and what awareness and meaning we can derive from it becomes the central theme of the tale and the planet Chiron.
Chiron in the birth chart reveals where we have suffered but also where we can become a healer or a mentor for others. Chiron here not only shows the sphere of life where we are expected to feel hurt; however, also the area where we obtain healing when we bring awareness to our woundedness.
Once we identify the cause of our wounding, we can become a healing force for others in that area.
Chiron's house position in the birth chart points to an area of life where we are generally more vulnerable and where healing can occur. By failing to accept this vulnerability, we cannot obtain meaning from it. As a result, we may end up hurting others unintentionally around the same issues.
Nevertheless, by bringing this vulnerability to light, we move from being incurably wounded in this area of our lives to becoming master teachers, like Chiron, for the healing of others.
Chiron's position by sign symbolises the valuable lessons we are here to learn, the essence of our wounding and how healing can occur.
As Chiron retrogrades through passionate sign Aries, we are urged to confront the feelings we've been pushing down instead of processing. Chiron retrograde is a time when we are encouraged to look deeper at the emotional wounds that essentially shaped our life. These might not always be apparent, but once realised, it is essential to accept that they are part of who we are today. During this time, we can allow our wounds caused by people or events in our life to heal so that we can take action and create a brighter future.
I hope this breakdown of major astrological events in middle of July was helpful!
